Description of the place
Rocca Maggiore is a castle located on a hill above the town of Assisi, and it can be reached on foot via a small path. It was built by the imperial forces led by Christian of Mainz with the aim of preserving the region from any external invasions. It was destroyed several times and in 1891 it was rebuilt, and today it is visited by many tourists, as it provides one of the most amazing views of the Umbrian Valley between Perugia and Foligno.
