Roman Walls
The Roman walls formed a rectangular wall surrounding the city of Aosta with an area of 724 m x 572 m, and a height of 7 meters. The wall consists of twenty towers, two for each gate, along with four corners for each gate, and a row of arched windows positioned on the four sides of the wall. The function of these defensive walls was to protect the city during the centuries following the fall of the Roman Empire. The wall is surrounded by many other Roman remains of statues, sculptures and memorials.
