Saint Bavo's Cathedral (also known as Sint-Baves Cathedral) is the 89-meter-long Gothic cathedral in the city of Ghent, the seat of the Diocese of Ghent. By Van Eyck, the place was initially a wooden building built in 942 by the Bishop of Tournai and Noyon and named Transmarus, but the foundations of the current building were laid in 1274.
