San Renovato Dam
The San Renovato Dam, also known as the Little Dam, was constructed between 1838 and 1852. It is a practical structure intended to enhance water-retaining capacities and was designed to control the water levels of the various springs and small rivers that flow from the surrounding hills. Renovato Dam was redesigned in the early 20th century and decorated with red paint and distinctive tiles by Manuel Lyell, an indoor lighthouse was built on Bova Hill and the lower embankment of the river was turned into a sunken garden.
