Sao Goncalo Bridge
The São Gonzalo Bridge is located in the historical center of Amarante, and is considered one of its main tourist sites. It is a granite bridge built over the Tamega River in the late eighteenth century. There is a stone plaque on one of the obelisks guarding its entrance on the left bank that commemorates the victorious resistance of the general General Silveirea, which faced Napoleon's forces led by General Loison, has been classified as a National Monument of Portugal since 1919.
