Sfax Archaeological Museum

The Archaeological Museum of Sfax is located in the heart of the modern city, and contains collections covering all periods of Tunisia's history with artifacts from the city and its environs as well as from distant sites. Most of the collections date back to the Roman era and come from the archaeological site of Tina (Thaenae), located about ten kilometers south of Sfax. Other civilizations are also represented in the museum from prehistoric times to the first Islamic era or the current local dynasties, and the collections are displayed on two levels according to modern standards; Signs and explanatory boards in several languages make the visit informative and enjoyable.
