The mausoleum of Sultan Mahmud II was built in the years between 1808-1840 by the son of Sultan Abdul Majeed. The mausoleum was built in the style of the Ottoman Empire, with some classic additions in the style of the French Napoleonic Empire. Within the territory of the complex there are also the tombs of Sultans Abdul Hamid II and Abdul Aziz. Upon entering the shrine, visitors will find Quranic inscriptions on the walls, a magnificent dome, beautiful arches and huge windows covered with silk curtains.
