This mosque is the largest mosque in Singapore and also a tourist attraction. Construction work began in 1824 under the directives of Sultan Hussein Shah, and the mosque has gone through many stages since then in order to reach its final form. The main hall of the mosque can accommodate 3000 Muslims, and the mosque was listed as one of the most important monuments in Singapore. The mosque is characterized by architectural beauty and Islamic decorations, and contains screens installed on the walls to translate the Friday sermon for non-Arabic speakers.
