Sydney Observatory
This 140-year-old observatory is the oldest in Australia, a National Heritage-listed weather station, astronomical observatory, workplace, science museum and educational facility. Its distinctive building is surrounded by quiet gardens, where visitors can sit and enjoy the stunning views. It should be noted that at the site of the observatory there was a windmill, and then a fort to defend the city against attacks by the French and the rebels. This fort was also used to send signals to passing ships, then it turned into an observatory during the nineteenth century. It has now become a working museum, where visitors can observe the stars and planets through the modern Schmidt-Cassegren telescope, and you can also enjoy the aesthetic and splendor of the building's exterior design, and the distinctive colors of the bricks used in the construction.
