On the outskirts of the village of Zumulia near the town of Eger, there is the picturesque Zumulia Beehive Nature Reserve, which features eight distinctive hive stones (huge beehive-like stones) with 117 niches. Many legends and scholarly theories have spawned about the purpose of the niches, the identity of their makers, and the era. in which they were made, and one common assumption is that the cell stones were tombstones, with urns containing the ashes of the deceased in the niches. Interestingly enough, these stones are surrounded by a meadow of beautiful wildflowers which is now home to a large beehive, and the area is ideal for picnics and hiking.
