The Liberty Monument

The Freedom Monument is located within the walls of the ancient city of Nicosia, and is one of the most important archaeological tourist attractions in it. Erected to honor the Greek Cypriots who fought for their independence against the British colonial rule, the monument consists of brass statues representing, in a detailed and well-designed way, men and women of different ages being released from prison and seeing the light of day after years of imprisonment. Undoubtedly, the Freedom Monument has become a timeless symbol of the struggle and hope for freedom of the Cypriot people.
