The Lost City of Ubar

The Lost City of Ubar is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located 175 km from Salalah in the Dhofar Governorate. This ancient mythical kingdom, known as Ubar, was said to have existed in one of the most arid places on Earth - the vast Empty Quarter desert. . According to legend, the desert swallowed the city of Ubar, and it sank without a trace to become the legendary city of "Atlantis of the Sands". This buried city from satellite gives you a glimpse into the value of the work undertaken in 1992 by a team of explorers led by Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
