Tulancingo Cathedral or the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Hodalego is a Catholic religious building that constitutes an architectural work for Mexico in the colonial era, and it was built by the Franciscans in 1528 AD. A combination of majestic and simple architectural elements stands out in this stunning cathedral. The building was originally of smaller proportions, but it was renovated and expanded in 1788 AD. The cathedral was distinguished by its sober and elegant gray stone, and its height is more than 54 meters from its base to the cross of the dome. Huge stones were used in building the walls, which are approximately one meter wide, and it constitutes an architectural masterpiece that still remains despite the succession of ages on it.
