Upper Rhine Tobacco Museum
Upper Rhine Tobacco Museum
80 years after the discovery of tobacco in 1492, tobacco was already present in the Upper Rhine, and the reason for its cultivation dates back to the Thirty Years' War, when soldiers passing through the region brought smoke to the Upper Rhine. The first tobacco factories were built near Basel, and later near Pforzheim and Strasbourg. Carl Ludwig Lotzbeck established his factory in Lahr in 1774, which is the cornerstone of tobacco cultivation and processing in this region, so the Tobacco Museum expresses the history of its inception and industry, so do not miss visiting it to listen to new historical and cultural information
