Description of the place
The historic Zwinger Castle is part of the old city fortifications dating back to the early 1600s. It was previously a place for the execution of prisoners and members of the Nazi secret police, but today it is a memorial belonging to the Münster City Museum. This castle was damaged by Allied air raids, but it still retains some of its original architectural features.
