Archaeological Zone of Tula
The city of Hidalgo includes one of the most important and oldest archaeological areas in history, the Tula region, which was originally the ruling center of the Toltec people, one of the greatest civilizations in the history of Mexico and Central America. The archaeological site consists of a museum and the remains of an earlier settlement, as well as the main ceremonial site and theatres. Despite all the ancient and historical monuments in the region, there is a major attraction that has its own place in the Tula region, which is the pyramid of Quetzalcoatl, which is topped by four basalt columns 4 meters (13 feet) high, carved in the form of Toltec warriors. The adventure cannot be completed without a visit to the Jorge R. Acosta Museum, which displays both originals and replicas.
