Bridge of Remembrance
This stately memorial, which was unveiled in 1924, is dedicated to all the soldiers who fought in the two world wars. Designed by New Zealand architecture firm Pros and Jammers, the bridge features a white stone arch decorated with ornaments and carvings and re-imagines the bridge that soldiers walked on on their way to war. The monument suffered significant damage from the earthquakes that struck the city in 2011. Do not hesitate and visit it with your family and friends and enjoy its beauty and think about the lofty goal for which it was established to perpetuate the memory of the war victims who sacrificed their lives for the sake of freedom!
