The Monastery of the Cave of Saint Gerasimos is the holiest site on the island of Kefalonia, where Saint Gerasimos is the patron saint and protector of the island, and for his sake its inhabitants built a monastery near the entrance of the cave in the place where he spent his life as an ascetic and secluded to carry out his religious duties.
