Chapel of Our Lady of the Tower

popular lookout point and one of the city's main entrances, the Santiago Tower still retains its medieval appearance contrasting with the rocaille style added to its northern façade. Its building is divided into two parts: the upper part is dominated by the stone clock and bell tower, while below is the Church of Our Lady of the Tower, It was added in the eighteenth century by André Soares as an act of thanksgiving to Our Lady for protecting the college in the great earthquake of 1755 that caused devastation throughout the country.
