Church of Mary Magdalene
On the western slopes of the Mount of Olives in the city of Jerusalem is the unique Church of Mary Magdalene. This Orthodox church was designed in the Russian style with the seven prominent golden domes that can be seen from afar, each of which is topped by a tall Russian Orthodox cross. This church was built in the nineteenth century AD. The reason for naming and building goes back to Mary Magdalene, a student of Christ, peace be upon him, who followed him on his way to be crucified. The church opens its doors on Tuesdays and Thursdays from ten in the morning until twelve in the afternoon.
