Church of Saint Spyridon

Tourists and locals walk through ancient stone streets to reach the church of Agios Spyridon located in the old town of Naviglio, as this church has great religious and tourist importance because it contains icons dating back to the Byzantine period, murals, and ancient paintings that tell important chapters in the history of the Christian religion. The church also has historical and political importance for the Greeks, as Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first elected president in Greece, was assassinated when he was going to pray in it, and some bullets witnessing the assassination are still stuck in the outer walls of the church.
