Cloister del Paradiso
Cloister del Paradiso
It is a monastery located in a secluded corner of the Basilica of Sant'Andrea and is called the Monastery of Paradise. It is an elegant building in the Arabic style built between 1266 and 1268, its wonderful rounded edges with a vault supported by 120 slender and frank double columns and surrounded by a garden full of palm trees and flowers. The monastery was built by Archbishop Filippo Augustarichio, who was remembered by most for the "great good he did for his country" and the "innumerable monuments" he left for posterity, as recorded by ancient chroniclers.
