Dugonics Square
Located in the old town of Szeged, Dugonics Square was home to a wheat market before it was destroyed by the great flood of 1879. Named after professor and priest András Dugonics, author of the first Hungarian novel, the square houses his statue, which was created from Public donations, and in front of it is the musical fountain designed to celebrate the centenary of the great flood in 1979, and the square is one of the most prominent tourist attractions in the city of Szeged.
