Dwasieden Castle
The ruins of Duassiden Castle are located near Sassnitz on the island of Rügen in the immediate vicinity of the Baltic Sea. It was built between 1873 and 1877 for Adolph von Hansemann; Owner of the discount bank in Berlin and one of the richest men of the Bismarck era, the architect of this imposing castle was Friedrich Hitzig, and he designed it in the style of the buildings of the Baltic coast in West Pomerania, as a result of the demolition of the castle in 1948 Today, only some traces of the building and stables that were burned in 1997 remain.
