This mosque was built by Mehmet Pasha Al-Kubrilli, in the Cesme region, near the market, and it is likely that it was opened for worship in 1661, according to the manuscript of the Qur’an, which Muhammad Pasha Al-Kubrilli sent to the mosque, and the date 1661 appears on it. This mosque is a distinguished example of Ottoman architecture in the century Seventeenth, it is also distinguished by the inscriptions that fill its walls and dome from the inside, and there is a fountain, a sundial, a library, and a common building that was built as a temporary office in the courtyard.
