The construction of the Lapa Church began in 1755 in response to the desire of the Brazilian priest Angelo Sequeira, and it took more than a hundred years to build it due to the French invasions of Portugal, and since 1835, the church houses the heart of King Pedro IV, who gave it to the city of Porto to thank all its citizens For all the sacrifice and the extreme courage they showed when they supported him during the war against his brother Miguel, the heart is located near the main altar next to the Gospel in a small shrine designed by Costa Lima.
