Description of the place
Mamore Castle is located 6 km southeast of Anamur, Mersin district, and it is one of the largest castles in Turkey with an area of 23,500 square meters. This medieval castle differs from similar castles, because it bears traces of the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, Karamanli and Ottoman periods, and in addition to the style of architecture used in it, it overlooks the Mediterranean Sea in a strategic view designed specifically to confront the enemy and defeat it.
