Nonnberg Abbey
Nonnberg Abbey
Nonnberg Priory is one of the oldest monuments in Salzburg, and is the oldest nunnery in the world. The official founder of the nun was St. Rupert, but he passed responsibility to his sister, St. Erentrudis. The interior of the monastery contains frescoes from the 12th century AD, as well as many artifacts dating back to the Gothic era. A wonderful place that should not be missed during your tour around the city's archaeological and historical landmarks.
