Patara Antique Theatre
The ancient theater of Patara is a Roman theater that was recently uncovered after it was buried under the sand. It was founded in the Hellenistic era, and was completely redesigned in the Roman era during the reign of Hadrian and Antoninus Pius. The construction of this theater is inspired by the theaters of the Roman era, as it consists of two floors and five doors, and it also contains a portico with columns on its north side. Inscriptions indicate that the theater was rebuilt by Polyperchon (the monk of Apollo) at the beginning of the first century AD. It should also be noted that the theater underwent restoration operations after the devastating earthquake in the period 140-143 AD, as it is now one of the most important and unique historical tourist attractions in Antalya.
