Pedro and Ines Bridge
The Pedro and Inés Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that opened in 2007 in the university city of Coimbra. It was designed by Cecil Balmond. Its structure extends 600 feet above the Rio Modego River. It is the first pedestrian bridge in the city and has become known locally. In the name of "the bridge that does not meet", it was constructed from two cantilevered passages joining in the middle to form a viewing platform, and each corridor is responsible for supporting the other, which gives a visual effect suggesting that the two halves of the bridge never meet.
