Phra Mahathat Chedi Phakdi Prakat is a large Rattanakosin-style temple built in 1996 by the people without any government funding in order to honor His Majesty the King on the occasion of his 50th anniversary. The temple is distinguished by its exquisite Thai architecture and gold and white interior and exterior designs. Elegant, the pagoda takes the form of a bell on a square base, and its group of 9 pagodas alludes to King Rama IX.
