Populo Church
The Popolo Church was built in the 16th century at the request of Archbishop Frei Agostinho de Jesus to be buried there. He died in 1609, and his body was transferred in 1628 to a wooden tomb ordered by the city of Braga, and placed in the altar. . The early familiar character of the church was changed in the 18th century when the façade was rebuilt in a neoclassical style, and today the interior is worth a visit for its decorative richness.
