Ancient Kition

Ancient Kition is an archaeological area and a historical kingdom located in the heart of the modern city of Larnaca. It is full of archaeological discoveries with origins dating back to the period between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries AD, which reveal a lot about the civilizations that succeeded in its lands, as it contains cemeteries, old houses and the Temple of Aphrodite of Astarte, which was built by the Phoenicians, who built the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem and others; It was also famous in the past for its port and its strategic location, which contributed to facilitating the export of agricultural products to the eastern Mediterranean, Egypt and the Aegean Sea.
