Gyeongbokgung Palace
Built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung Palace, also referred to as the Northern Palace, is located farther north when compared to the neighboring palaces of Changdeokgung Palace (Eastern Palace) and Gyeonghoejeong Palace (Western Palace). It can be said that Gyeongbokgung Palace is the most beautiful and largest palace in Seoul. Its buildings were once destroyed by the fire of the Japanese invasions, but they were all restored later under the leadership of Heungseondaewongun during the reign of King Gojong. The royal public ancient sculptures represent contemporary art at the time, and the palace also includes the National Palace Museum and the National Folk Museum.
