St George's Basilica

St. George's Church is a historic Baroque church located in the heart of the island of Gozo. It is an ancient church built in the years between 1672 and 1678. The church is surrounded by a maze of old narrow alleys where photographers from all over the world come to take pictures. The church was built on the ruins of another church, the first mention of which in historical manuscripts dates back to the year 1250. The church has medieval-style decorations, as visitors will find gilded columns, wonderful drawings, distinctive statues, and more.
